Ryan Carroll ECAC Goaltender of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —Sophomore

Ryan Carroll and freshman forward
Daniel Moriarty of the
Harvard men’s hockey team have earned weekly honors from ECAC Hockey, the league announced Monday.
Carroll has been named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, and Moriarty is the league’s
Rookie of the Week.
Carroll entered the last week without
a collegiate start and ended it with 113 saves in three games, including two wins.
He made his first start Monday against No. 15 Boston College in the 57th Beanpot tournament, making 42 saves to keep the Crimson in contention until the final minute
of the 4-3 loss.
The Hackensack, N.J., native then started both games of
the weekend sweep of Colgate and No. 6 Cornell, stopping 29 shots in a 3-2 win against
the Raiders and 42 in a 4-2 victory against the rival Big Red. He had a .934 save
percentage and 2.67 go als-against average to go with several outstanding saves
during the week. Carroll helped Harvard go 17 for 18 on the penalty kill during
the week, including a 12-for-12 effort in the weekend sweep.
Moriarty recorded a goal and two assists
in the weekend league sweep. He assisted on the game-winning goal that
broke a third-period
tie in Friday’s 3-2 win against the Raiders. In Saturday’s 4-2 victory against the
Big Red, he assisted on the Crimson’s second goal to put Harvard ahead to stay and
later scored the eventual game-winner. Moriarty, a native of Estevan, Sask., has
six goals and five assists on the season.
Carroll is the Crimson’s second ECAC Goaltender
of the Week. Freshman
Matt Hoyle won the honor Nov. 3, following
Harvard’s season-opening win against Dartmouth. It is the fourth time this season
a Crimson player has skated away with the league0s weekly rookie honor. Hoyle earned
the award Nov. 17 and Feb. 2. Forward
Alex Killorn followed Hoyle’s first
selection with one of his own a week later.
