Off Ice Training & Dance Program Application
Off Ice Training & Dance Program Waiver
Participation in off-ice training programs are well established in the world of figure skating as one way skaters can maximize their performance and help avoid injury. Our Off Ice Programs are currently 9 Weeks for $95
Program Goals
- To establish a comprehensive strength, conditioning, flexibility, and injury prevention program for skaters to promote optimal gains in performance.
- To help manage the physical needs of skaters through and integrated approach, using other disciplines when needed.
- To improve concentration, control, centering, flowing movement, precision, and breathing through a series of exercises focused on core stabilization.
- To improve posture and increase knowledge of the body in motion.
Our off ice program will offer three main components: Classical Ballet classes, Off Ice Jumps, and Strength & Conditioning sessions. Exercises specific to figure skating will be the primary focus of these classes.
Classical Ballet class exposes the skater to beginning to advanced classical ballet, which promotes good posture in skaters as well as giving them the ability to use their bodies to express themselves when they skate.
Off Ice Jump class is comprised of exercises designed to increase the height, air position, and quickness of rotation on jumps as well as dry land jumping.
The Strength & Conditioning class will focus on strengthening the upper body as well as the "core" areas of the body (abdomen, lower back, hip flexors, etc.) to prevent injury. The benefit of conditioning is first and foremost a way to prevent skaters from getting injured. In addition, the overall strengthening of the body will produce better jumps as well as increase the skater's aerobic and anaerobic capacity.
You can advance contract for any of our Off Ice classes. Every class will be grouped according to your Freestyle test level. Skaters may move from one level of class to another based upon the recommendation of the Off Ice coach. Sign up for the classes is done in the Skating School office during normal business hours. Classes will have a maximum of 15 participants. All classes must have a minimum of three participants or the class will be cancelled. Notice of any cancelled classes will be posted on the Message Board. To walk on to any of our Off Ice classes the skater must first go to the front Admissions Booth and purchase a walk on sticker for the class. The walk on sticker MUST be presented to the instructor before taking the class.
All of our Off Ice instructors are available for private training. Please feel free to contact our instructors directly to schedule an appointment.
