Having sharpened his own skates since the age of 16, and having worked in a variety of ice rinks and pro shops since 18, James brings years of professional experience to the Ice House. For over 20 years James has managed pro shops including those in Ice World of Totowa, Danny Michael's Ice Palace of Florham Park, and Sport-O-Rama of Monsey, NY. James' breadth of knowledge goes beyond his experience in pro shops, including four years as starting goaltender for Rutgers University, where he also graduated in business management and English Literature. His strengths on the ice lended themselves well to other areas of the skating world, as he was also the lead instructor for a variety of goalie clinics throughout the years, in addition to successfully refereeing at all levels of youth, amateur, and adult hockey.
At the Ice House, James has sharpened and set boots to blades for Sarah Hughes during her training for the 2002 Olympics where she won the gold medal. He has also worked with Tara Lipinsky, Johnny Weir, Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman, Brian Boitano, Oksana Baiul, amongst many others.
