The Ice House operates one of the largest full service hockey and skating Pro Shops in the New York-New Jersey area. Our expert hockey and skating staff can assist you by finding the right equipment to fit your specific level of competition needs.

Located on the first floor, the Ice House Pro Shop offers numerous services, from skate sharpening and equipment fittings, to being the only place to house a variety of custom gear and sports apparel for both the North Jersey Avalanche and the Ice House Figure Skating department.

WINTER HOURS

James Skibin

Having sharpened his own skates since the age of 16, and having worked in a variety of ice rinks and pro shops since 18, James brings years of professional experience to the Ice House.  For over 20 years James has managed pro shops including those in Ice World of Totowa, Danny Michael's Ice Palace of Florham Park, and Sport-O-Rama of Monsey, NY.  James' breadth of knowledge goes beyond his experience in pro shops, including four years as starting goaltender for Rutgers University, where he also graduated in business management and English Literature.  His strengths on the ice lended themselves well to other areas of the skating world, as he was also the lead instructor for a variety of goalie clinics throughout the years, in addition to successfully refereeing at all levels of youth, amateur, and adult hockey.

 

At the Ice House, James has sharpened and set boots to blades for Sarah Hughes during her training for the 2002 Olympics where she won the gold medal.  He has also worked with Tara Lipinsky, Johnny Weir, Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman, Brian Boitano, Oksana Baiul, amongst many others.

Peter Romano

Peter is a long time member of the Ice House Pro Shop family, having consistently been a presence at the rink since 2001.  Peter comes to the Pro Shop with over 35 years of experience in the hockey industry at a variety of capacities.  Before his work at the Ice House, Peter dedicated himself extensively to O'Shea Athletic Outfitters from March 1978 to January 2001.  Throughout his time managing and working on the equipment side of athletics, Peter has also enjoyed an extensive personal career playing the game of hockey; Peter has and continues to play hockey for over 45 years, earning himself a membership of the Terminal Hockey Hall of Fame in January 2000.

At the Ice House, Peter has fitted & sharpened skates for countless future college and NHL players who have come up through the rankings of the North Jersey Avalanche hockey organization.  Peter is an active member of the Ice House Adult League, and is always available to talk hockey and help with any and all hockey needs.
